After changing the oil, disconnecting battery, reconnecting and resetting Engine Oil Life indicator, I now have a Check Engine light. Car runs fine. Is there a possibility it will go away again, or is it lit until the dealer resets it?

Is Touring the only Corsa available?
I am wanting to put the Corsa exhaust on my STS once I get the money saved up but I just want to make sure I'll be buying what I think I'm going to be buying. I found two videos on YouTube of STS' with the Corsa and they sound GREAT (exactly what I want) but both videos have comments of people asking if the exhaust in the video is the Sport or Touring. Corsa only shows a Touring (part number: 14157) on their web site. Was there ever a Sport version made for the STS that is now discontinued or are the people asking in the YouTube comments mistaken in thinking there is/was a Sport version? I've only ever heard a Corsa Touring on an Avalanche and it barely sounded any different from the stock Avalanche exhaust. I know, completely different vehicles and exhaust setups but I just don't want to spend the money for the Corsa for my STS and it barely sound any different. If it will sound like these two videos, I will be happy.

I really like the way it burbles and pops and sounds almost exotic so I just want to make sure they haven't done anything else to their cars not listed in the description, like hollowing out the cats or putting an x-pipe in places of the stock resonator or something like that. Thanks.

06 STS - CD Changer inoperative
I have a 2006 STS4 V8 1SG. Recently the CD changer stopped working. I have tried to do the fuse out for 30 minutes as well as disconnecting and touching the battery cables to do the reset. I am guessing I'm going to have to buy a new head unit. I can change this myself, but it appears that if I do this myself I will have to get the radio reprogrammed in order for it not to think it was a theft. From reading here it seems that dealers are reluctant to do this. Is there anywhere that I can ship a newly purchased radio to get it programmed to my specific vehicle. Seeing as I have only 90K and everything else works like a champ I'd love to get this fixed.

The horrors of Cadillac ownership in Denmark
I just want to tell you about the horrors of Cadillac ownership in Denmark. Ive owned my 2006 STS since Sept 2013, and still enjoy driving it, but ownership can be a nightmare.
There are very few Cadillacs or other finer US cars in Denmark. There are two reasons for that. The first is the new car tax of 180% + vat, that means that my STS costs 140k when it was new. I bought mine used for 25k, so the value drop for the first owner has been like the value of a small house.
The second reason there are so few Cadillacs on Danish roads is the dealerships. The service is not good, nowhere near the level you could expect from a premium car dealer, and they try to rob you any chance they get. Todays call to the dealer is a good example.
My STS has on/off starting issues, I live with it because Ive installed a jumper wire, and after last oil change (done by me) the Check Engine is lit. After getting advice on this forum, I wanted to get the ECU, the theft prevention system and the navigation software updated (to be able to use newer map discs), and read the Check Engine code. Theres a dealer walking distance from my workplace, and 100 miles to the next one, so tried the near one.
So I called and asked the price of the three sw updates. Then he started on what couldnt be done. They could not update the nav sw, they had so many problems with this car. I said that was strange, because right after I bought the car I had asked for a price to update navigation, I was told no problem, but I needed first to have nav sw updated and then a new map disc (for that they would charge me 1,100. I said no thanks). Then he sounded a bit insulted, and yes there may be a solution, but he would need my VIN. I said I had info here, he sounded disappointed, but he took the VIN and said he would call back with prices on the 3 SW updates.
Then I mentioned the Check Engine light. Then he suddenly sounded a bit happier and friendlier. He asked the cars miles and the oil consumption. Because that could easily be the front chains, a well-known and 5-7k issue on the 3.6. I told him about my low oil consumption, he said that it could still be the chains I felt he had smelled blood/money, and wouldnt let go. It is a well-known fact among the small community in Denmark that are wealthy and crazy enough to buy new US cars, that the dealers try to rob you any chance they get. There are stories about a Cadillac with an intermittent electrical problem, where the dealer got away with changing the entire wiring at 6k, didnt fix the problem. Best case, they dont know what theyre doing, and just replace components until it works, at your expense, worst case the deliberately take the costly detour.
So I got a call back from him, he left a message, update of sw 3 components, 1,100.
As long as it runs, I dare not leave my Cadillac there. Its a shame, its right next to my job, and I dont mind spending money on my great car, but I dont want to get robbed. So when I ask questions on this forum, and somebody answers, time to take it to the dealer, thats not a solution for me. A have a local garage that can help me with most things, but things like sw updates, they cant. So end result, Im living with my starting issue, my jumper wire, my outdated nav and my Check Engine light. And the dealer lays off people because they dont get enough business. Crazy.

Throttle flap sound
Hi,
I'm just wondering what is the purpose when computer do something with throttle flap when I'm opening the car.
This is not annoying I just wondering why this is happening.
Just for short while and it's definitely comes from throttle.

Need Help with 05 STS, Heated/Ventilated Seat Dead
It's 19 degrees here in lovely North Jersey and both my heated and ventilated driver's seat have stopped working. Pressing the button on the dash displays the proper thing but I get no response from the seat at all. I would imagine it's some kind of module that died, anyone know how I can fix this? I don't have a lot of insulation between my pelvic bone and the seat so it's pretty cold sitting in here...... :crybaby:

timing chain indications
I know I'm putting a curse on myself, I started my 2006 sts (134000 mi.) with the remote while standing in front of the open hood (temp was 20*F). The only sound I heard was the starter and the engine fire up (very smooth). No tinks,clanks or rattles, just what would be an indication that the chains require replacement? I'm thinking somewhere in her past the chains were replaced?

I have been having trouble opening up the drivers door.
I was thinking it was the antenna, why ? because when I pulled it,
the red LED did NOT come on. and once or twice, I got FOB not recognized
BUT, I changed the battery in the fob, I buy them 10 or 20 at a time,
on ebay, for about 1.99 for all, and it seems to have solved the problem.
the OLD battery read 3.1 volts, and the NEW one read 3.4,
You would think it should be OK, but as we all know, electronics,
have a mind of their own.
"IF" it does not continue to work OK, I will post on here.

2008 STS Cigarette Port in Dash
Hey guys, new to the forum but not new to caddys. I just got an 08 STS with the Nav unit. The in dash cigarette lighter port isn't working but the rest are. I opened the hood to see if I could find the fuse, but no luck. Where is the fuse?

2008 STS Stuck in 'Valet mode active' mode
I have a 2008 STS. Someone may have inadvertently hit the valet switch in my glove box. I turned it off, but it appears to still be active. When trying to go to setup (using the radio to set driver preferences) I get the message 'valet mode active' even though the switch is in the off position. I've also noticed that the heated seats no longer work. I this also a result of the valet mode being active? Any ideas about how I might disable the valet mode would be most appreciated.

The dealer is telling me its AWD....but Im not so sure...havent seen it up on a lift yet to verify.
What to know for sure before I arrange financing Monday morning.
Like I said...its a STS 4......but everything Ive found tells me its only RWD...which I do not want.
Anybody help me out here?

Had the dealer check this for me and he came back with a price higher than I am willing to pay to have this repaired. I had it turned off when it was working.

Pearl, my '05 V8 surprised me, today
I changed the transmission fluid...said trans was rebuilt at 113K miles, but immediately before this, I put a Fumoto drain plug in the side of the pan so I could change fluid in the future ("sealed" my ass!)...and when I took her out for a shakedown, I was very pleasantly surprised to find she'll chirp the 1-2 shift at about 3/4 throttle. Not WOT, as I think the engine cuts back if it hits redline.
Also, the traction control activated on the 2-3 shift, if at WOT.
The MPGs on this tank are toast in less than ten minutes of testing...er...playing around.
I have had the ECU and transmission computer tweaked, so this likely isn't normal.

2007 AWD STS Oil Change Question
Apologies up front for the newbie question on a Monday morning. I did some searches here and was not able to locate an answer for my particular car - 2007 STS V6 AWD and understand that the set-up can be different for the AWD(?)
I know how to get at the canister oil filter from the front but, am looking to confirm the location of the oil drain plug. If there is a pdf available I would appreciate it. I plan on picking up a service manual soon but any help in the interim is appreciated. Learning a lot on this site - thank you. :cheers:

Headlight Out?
I have a 2008 STS-4. The very small lamp in the passenger headlight assembly does not come on when the lights are turned on. How do you replace this bulb without going to the dealer ($$$$$)? I read in another post that it might be a relay and not the lamp. How do I locate the relay and how do I test it? Thanks.
