sts-v options

Looks like the links on the sticky are dead now. Any way to find list of options and std features for the 06 sts-v?

Engine, trans, brakes, wheels, performance upgrades are pretty well known, but I am curious what is different than the std sts options in terms of interior stuff. Might just be what is available, but the pictures of 2006 sts-v I am seeing looks like ventilated/cooled seats is not an option, or maybe they just changed the button and it no longer has the two different seat images? Just up/down arrows?

sts wheel spacers on stock wheels.

I have been looking for pics of wheel spacers on stock wheels. I am having my wheels powder coated (for free), and was thinking about adding spacers to push the wheels flush to fenders. I have had spacers on several past vehicles but wondered if anyone had them on and STS for a good visual reference. I have been looking all over for pics, but can't find anything. I will be blacking out the grille, wheels, and all chrome at one time. I ordered the Gibson exhaust and it will be here Friday! So I wanted to order the spacers to get them on then also. I have an 06 Black Cherry STS V8 and think the blackout will look cool. I will also lower it soon. plenty of plans just need the $$.. lol...

Any help would be great, if you can post pics that would ROCK!:musical:

The electrical terminals of the fuel pump module in the affected vehicles may overheat resulting in the melting of the flange material.If the flange melts, a hole may be created allowing the fuel pump to leak fuel, causing the vehicle to stall, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Additionally, leaking fuel in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.

Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14405.

2005 STS4 rim offset

I'm looking at buying a set of tires and rims for the winter. The rims came off a 2007 CTS. Everything I have read so far says they should fit my STS. I'm just concerned about the offset. They are 18" 5x115 with a 44 offset.

Flashing check engine light

This morning I filled up with 87 octane at a shell station before leaving on a road trip. While driving I noticed some jerking and hesitation when I tried to accelerate to pass someone. This happened a few times and then i noticed that my check engine was flashing for a few seconds while this happened.

Im hoping it's just bad gas or something it rained really hard last night and of course I filled up this morning. I still have half a tank left. What do yall think is the problem? Should i fill up qith better gas ? Maybe use a octane booster or gas additive? Im about 4 hours from home and concerned.

2005 STS 3.6 Hard ride / noisy transmission and motor

Hello All:

I saw this car at a deal too good to pass up, well maybe not now! It has 160K on the clock and I bought it for $3800, most in my area are going for $6500 with around 140K ...

I picked this car up about 100 miles from home .. I was really excited for the first 5 miles or so, then I started noticing things ...

First, the ride quality is horrible, it rides like a truck, not like a Cadillac. I was expecting this to ride better then my 03 SLS... To me, it feels like it throws me all over the road, I feel every single bump, however, on a smooth road it rides amazing...

Secondly, last night, after it sat for about 8 hours, I decided to drive it around the block prior to parking it in the garage, the engine is a little loud, not knocking but just noisy, the transmission is also a little noisy, not grinding or screeching, just loud, when I shift into neutral it gets quieter ...

I am thinking that I might need to replace the front struts and the tires .. are there any suggestions for struts that I can do in my garage, I really want to get into this car and work on it myself... I know Monroe makes a quickstrut that is ready to go, I just haven't seen one for this model yet ...

Any suggestions for this car would be helpful ...

2006 STS v6 not liking the cold weather?

If I posted this in the wrong forum post please move it. I apologize as I am posting this from my phone.

I drive a 2006 Cadillac STS it has a V-6. I live in the Midwest where the temperatures can get below zero. I recently just replaced my battery for a new one. During the nights it gets below zero my car has had issues starting. Turning it over sometimes will be to the point where it drains the battery where I will need to put it on a charger.I am hesitant that it is cold related because I let it sit for a one week and it also struggled to start over as if it needed gas. What is recommended for my car to help ease cold weather starting?i've considered a dipstick oil heater, a block heater, but I am curious if there is a better solution or if there is something else I should have checked out. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello folks,

I recently bought a 2008 STS but I have a question about the towing capabilities of the car. I'm in the market to buy a jetski but I'm not sure if I'll be able to tow it with this car. I've seen a hitch for the car that was rated for 2000lbs but I did some research and the car is rated for a max of 1000lbs. I'm kind of confused with that.

So I wanted to check if this would be a feasible/good idea. I'm guessing that the jetski withe trailer and gas will be in the ballpark of 800-1000lbs. Has anyone ever done this?

Any input would be tremendous.

Steering clunk developments

All,

Some of you may remember that I had a clunk in my front end that remained after replacing my LCA bushings and ball joints. Having spent a great deal of time under the car during that evolution, I've ruled out sway bar links, UCA bushings / ball joints, and outer tie rod ends. I recently had my wife shimmy the wheel back and forth while I was under the car in order to reproduce the faint version of the noise I get while stationary. Looking at and feeling the tie rods while doing this revealed a correlating movement on the driver's side... Bad inner tie rod, right?
Wrong. I bought the Moog part from Advance and got to work. After peeling the boot back I found that the end has minimal if any play. I had my wife wiggle the steering wheel again and observed excessive play (wobble) of the rack within the rack housing to be the actual cause of the noise.

So, does anyone have any experience with this? I know I could just replace the rack, but I'm wondering if there are any alternatives. BTW, it's the ZF unit.

I bought a used 2007 STS and the Driver side front and rear windows do not work, I've had the regulators replaced and that was not the problem any one else experience something similar? If so, what is the fix?

Its gonna seem like I am spamming the forum about seats....

I always loved the STS. For years I planned on getting the 2010 or 2011. When I finally had the money, I thought the touchscreen/navigation system might be a little dated for my tastes.

I ended up getting the 2011 CTS. I like everything about it except the seats, and I could go for some more bass in the Bose.

I don't care for CUE, but the XTS has some of the most amazing seats I have ever been in. I thought about the 2012 SRX since it would have a similar interior to my CTS, but I am not crazy about the exterior.

This week they have announced multiple aftermarket head units that offer Android Auto, so that got me to thinking....

Maybe I could return to my first love and replace the touchscreen, but I don't remember how the seats were. Obviously I will need to do some test drives, but I won't be buying anything for six months or so, and if I start test driving now, I might jump the gun

is it time for a new vehicle? 05 sts 148k miles
look like some things are dealer parts only.
they wont honor the repair of the cats due to the misfire, misfire has been attempted to be fixed several times, always comes bck.
Any help is always and greatly appreciated.

My Front & Back Driver Door will not open when I try to unlock it with my FOB. Does anyone know what may be causing this and what parts I will need to get to get this fixed. It's not the FOB as well. I changed the battery on it.

I had to do this since I got the car. But, I really didn't think it'd be this bad until I really tore into it. The real odd part is that the car only has 80k and is a 05. I seen stuff like this, but on cars with 3x the mileage.

I was barely able to salvage the upper housing.

Timing chain trouble

I have a 2009 STS w no extended warranty with a timing chain issue. I researched this in the forum, placed a call to the dealer with my VIN and the Cadillac letter# I found here and I have an appt in 3 days for free timing chain replacement and a loaner. Just wanted to thank everyone here for saving me a minimum of $2500. I am happy as a clam today.

Power Steering lea

Had a leak In the line. Replaced the line. Now it sprung another leak and the steering is tight, is the pump shot or something else. It's also below zero here in Ohio. Any suggestions

2006 STS Hazard lights not working.

Hello. Just bought a 2006 STS and the hazards don't work. My signal lights work but when the button is pressed nothing happens. I'm wondering if it could be a blown fuse. But I have looked over the manual a couple times and there seems to be a fuse for everything but the hazards. If anyone has any indication could you please help. Thanks.

2006 STS...power steering problem...

Hi everyone!

The power steering just gave out on my 2006 STS today...the on-board computer did not disply any error messages. Suspecting it could be the power steering fluid level, I couldn't find any power steering fluid filler cap under the hood, and I could not find any mention of it in my owner's manual...is there such a filler cap somewhere under the hood?

If not, what would be in your opinion the most likely cause of the power steering failure?
